Overview
This is a joint course with MTC and Ben’s Backwoods Bushcraft.
Winter Fieldcraft is a 2 day course focused on cold weather preparedness and survival. The course is split between 2 shorter days to accommodate the limited light of the winter and to allow time for students to get more practical application if they choose. This class will be taught in both the classroom and in the field, with a warming fire.
Day 1 will focus on tactical preparedness for the environment, with a focus on clothing and equipment selection, as well as medical concerns and weapons care and considerations.
Day 2 will focus on survival in a winter environment, with the focus being on shelter, fire and water.
Students will receive instruction and practical application of:

- Winter camouflage
- Winter individual and team equipment
- Weapons care and maintenance considerations
- Survival shelters
- Fire making
- Water procurement and purification
- Individual survival kits
